Pacific Empire Chorus - Thrilled with Pacific Shores Region 12 Contest Performance!
Petaluma, CA - The exciting, talented and award-winning women’s a cappella chorus located right here in Petaluma, did it again! On May 6, 2023, Pacific Empire Chorus, “PEC”, WON the Pacific Shores Region 12 Competition of Sweet Adelines International, held in Reno, Nevada. In 2019, PEC won the regional contest, and qualified to go to the Sweet Adelines International Competition in the fall of 2020, however, Covid shut everything down and cancelled contests for two years. After almost a year of Zoom rehearsals in 2020, followed by outdoor rehearsals, indoor rehearsals in masks and spacing 6 feet apart to sing in 2021, PEC started meeting live again inside during March 2022. After high energy rehearsals and having guest expert coaches in 2023, PEC is thrilled to have won the contest and is so excited to be back on track! Since PEC’s thrilling performance in Reno over the weekend, PEC has been invited to compete at Sweet Adelines International Competition and Convention in the fall of 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri!
Out of the 32 Pacific Empire singers on stage in Reno, two singers were brand new! Our members range in age from 16 to 80! If you can sing and like to dance, our performing organization will give you a place to sing after high school or college choirs or keep you young if you haven’t sung in a while! Becoming a member of PEC will give you immediate new friends as well as create lifetime friendships! The combination of experienced singers and new musical talent, as well as many fun singing and dancing rehearsals, led by Director Patty Pennycook, proved to be a success again in 2023!
Help PEC Grow! Pacific Empire Chorus has a GOAL to DOUBLE IN SIZE this year! PEC is an a cappella show chorus and competitive chorus of women who love to sing four-part harmony, mainly in the barbershop style. Many women drive in from surrounding cities, but PEC wants to get the word out in Petaluma and surrounding locations that they are looking for local women who love to SING and DANCE! We need women who are ready to do something different and have some fun together!
Vocal Lessons - PEC has high level leaders who teach voice lessons and visual dance plans to go with our fun music. PEC sings lots of pop, jazz, and standards all in the barbershop style. If you have heard them sing at Santa’s Arrival in Petaluma, the Festival of Trees or caroling downtown or at Theater Square, at their own Crab Feed at the Vets Building or at the Marin Fair, they are sure to have put a smile on your face! If you haven’t heard them, you’ll have to plan to visit a rehearsal or go to a show soon.
Guest Night, May 24, 2023 – Calling all women from Petaluma and our surrounding communities! PEC rehearses weekly at 6:30 on Wednesday evenings in Petaluma at 939 B Street in the meeting hall behind the First Presbyterian Church. Guests are welcome ANY Wednesday evening at 6:30pm, but the next GUEST NIGHT is MAY 24, 2023, at 6pm. Since Pacific Empire is actively seeking new members to help rebuild their chorus and go to more competitions in the future, they recently had a booth at the Butter and Egg Days Festival where they met lots of interested singers! They hope to welcome all of those enthusiastic women and more from the area on their Guest Night, May 24th. Call a friend and visit PEC together!

Performances/Sponsor PEC - The future for Pacific Empire is bright indeed! They will be performing in Petaluma at their own Ice Cream Social and Guest events this summer, the Marin Fair on July 3, and holding a show of their own in October. In 2024, they will hold their 11th annual and very popular CRAB FEED! PEC is becoming even more active singing at community events, so if you need entertainment, they are ready to prepare a set to fit your event.
